Resumen de Metaescepticismo

En el presente trabajo suscribiremos el sentido de metaescepticismo según el cual la teoría del conocimiento es imposible. Este sentido de metaescepticismo se sostiene sobre dos condiciones aparentemente necesarias: (1) la identificación de uno o varios de los presupuestos de la teoría del conocimiento para someterlos a crítica; y (2) la asunción, más o menos explícita, de una comprensión del conocimiento alternativa a la que se atribuye y critica a la teoría del conocimiento en cuestión. Una vez aclaradas estas cuestiones preliminares llevaremos a cabo un repaso de las distintas variedades metaescépticas y comprobaremos que hasta las versiones más austeras de metaescepticismo satisfacen las dos condiciones anteriores. Esto nos llevará a concluir, en primer lugar, que todo metaescepticismo las cumple y, en segundo lugar, que no hay ninguna variedad de metaescepticismo que esté libre de implicaciones pistemológicas, por lo que terminaremos preguntándonos si cabe el metaescepticismo.

In the present article we subscribe to a form of meta-skepticism according to which the theory of knowledge is impossible. This form of meta-skepticism is based on two apparently necessary conditions: (1) the identification of one or more of the assumptions of the theory of knowledge in order to criticize them; and (2) the more or less explicit assumption that there is an alternative account of knowledge to the one attributed to the theory of knowledge in question. Once these reliminary issues have been clarified, we will review different varieties of meta-skepticism in order to verify whether all of them, even the most austere, satisfy the previous two conditions. This will lead us to conclude, in the first place, that all varieties of meta-skepticism satisfy them and, secondly, that no type of meta-skepticism is free of epistemological implications. In the light of this conclusion, we will end up considering whether meta-skepticism stands its ground.
