    El descenso al inframundo es un esquema narrativo que proviene del mito y que se presenta bien conservado en la actualidad, además de muy utilizado en la creación artística contemporánea. Teniendo esto en cuenta, si analizamos la serie Twin Peaks (temporadas 1 y 2, película ‘Fire Walk With Me’ (1992) y ‘Twin Peaks: The Return’ (2017)), podemos observar que el esquema de catábasis ocupa un papel primordial en el desarrollo del personaje de Dale Cooper. Sin embargo, diversas particularidades de la narrativa de la serie apuntan especialmente a una relación intertextual con el mito de Orfeo, incluyendo la tradición mítica de este héroe más cercana al orfismo. Debido a esas similitudes, que se inician en la trama final de la serie original, el agente Cooper ya ha sido señalado como "an Orpheus-like figure". En este trabajo profundizaremos en el diálogo entre la serie y el mito y prestaremos especial atención a cómo su actualización se extiende a través de la película y de la tercera temporada, impregnando gran parte de su significado.

    The descent to the underworld is a mythical narrative pattem, well preserved nowadays, and highly productive to the contemporary art creation. If we analyze the TV-show Twin Peaks (seasons 1 and 2, the film Fire Walk With Me (1992) and Twin Peaks: The Return (2017)), we can see that the katabasis-type of narrative has a strong part on the development of the character of Dale Cooper. Nevertheless, several particularities of the series' narrative point out toan intertextual relationship with the Orpheus' myth, including the orphic mythical tradition of the hero. In fact, due to some similarities between the Orpheus' story and the final plot of the original series, agent Cooper had been already defined as "an Orpheus-like figure". In this paper the dialogue between the series and the myth will be examined in depth, specially regarding to the reception of the mythical story in the film and in the third season, which has a high influence on its meaning.
