    En el estado de Aguascalientes, de 1865 hasta 1910, los planes generales de estudio, leyes de instrucción pública, reglamentos, reportes e informes oficiales dan cuenta del proceso tendiente a la centralización, control y homogenización educativa. En estos se advierte el énfasis en los cursos de moral, de urbanidad, civismo y el deber ser, no solamente del educando sino también de los directivos, profesores, ayudantes y hasta de padres de familia. Para ello el gobierno estatal y los ayuntamientos fundaron establecimientos públicos escolares para diversos grados y niveles de enseñanza. Este artículo muestra, por otro lado, un proceso de más largo aliento, en el que la moral católica -herencia del período novohispano, sobre todo entre los grupos conservadores– va a ser gradualmente sustituida por una moral más secular por los gobiernos liberales del siglo XIX y principios del XX; aunque la primera no desaparece del todo, sino que coexiste con la segunda.

    In the state of Aguascalientes, from 1865 to 1910, the general plans of study, laws of public instruction, regulations, reports and official reports give an account of the process tending to centralization, control and educational homogenization. In these the emphasis is on the courses of morality, of civility, citizenship and the duty to be, not only of the student but also of the directors, teachers, assistants and even parents. To this end, the state government and the city councils founded public school establishments for various grades and levels of education. On the other hand, this article shows a longer process of encouragement, in which Catholic morality, -a legacy of the New Spain period, especially among conservative groups-, will gradually be replaced by a more secular morality through the liberal governments of the nineteenth century and the early twentieth; although the first morality does not disappear completely but coexists with the second.
