    La Reserva Natural Las Piedras es un área protegida municipal localizada al norte de la ciudad de Gualeguaychú, provincia de Entre Ríos. Creada en 1995, la misma constituye la primer área natural municipal protegida del Departamento Gualeguaychú.

    El marco legal existente, así como la protección y monitoreo del sitio de manera permanente, favoreció la conservación de los diferentes ambientes naturales y el desarrollo de una rica flora y fauna nativa.

    A esto se suman recursos históricos y arquitectónicos de la colonia agrícola que funcionó allí hasta principios del siglo XX.

    Este conjunto de elementos contribuyó a que la Reserva Natural se constituya en un lugar propicio para implementar programas de educación ambiental, actividades de ecoturismo y proyectos de investigación científica. Sin embargo, este espacio protegido no es ajeno a diversas problemáticas y amenazas. Por tal motivo, se desarrolla este trabajo de investigación exploratorio que permite obtener un estado de situación del sitio, a partir del cual se elaboraron algunas recomendaciones para ser transferidas a los actores locales responsables de la gestión y administración de la Reserva.

    Las Piedras Natural Reserve is a protected area located at the north of Gualeguaychú’s city, Entre Ríos province. Created in 1995, it is the first natural protected area in the Department of Gualeguaychú.

    The legal existing frame, as well as the protection and monitoring of the site, promoted the conservation of different natural environments and the development of a rich flora and native fauna. In addition there are historical and architectural resources of the agricultural colony that worked there until the beginning of the 20th century. This set of elements contributed that the Natural Reserve is constituted in a propitious place to implement programs of environmental education, activities of ecotourism and projects of scientific research.

    Nevertheless, this protected area suffers diverse problems and threats. Inside this context, this exploratory work is developed within the perspective that it will allow to obtain an overview about the situation of the site, from which some recommendations were elaborated to be transferred to the local actors whom are responsible for the management and administration of the Reserve.
