Resumen de Une Allemagne désunie ? Les traces géopolitiques de la partition Est / Ouest

Boris Grésillon, Béatrice von Hirschhausen

  • This article attempts to take stock of the reunification of the two Germany, thirty years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, through the electoral behaviour of the Germans. Beyond the gradual convergence of living standards, consumption patterns and lifestyles between former West Germans and former East Germans, there are less visible but real differences between the western and eastern parts of Germany. Supported by maps, the electoral geography, at both federal and Land Berlin levels, shows a very strong East/West divide over the entire period. As if the old partition was replaying. Always noted with astonishment but rarely interpreted with discernment, this replay of ghostly geopolitical borders must be seen in relation to deep demographic, economic and social trends, which thirty years of reunification have not erased and which we will analyze.
