    La respuesta de Europa a la llamada “crisis de refugiados” ha puesto de manifiesto su resquebrajamiento como proyecto supranacional no sólo monetario y económico, sino también político y de convivencia. El auge de planteamientos nacionalistas excluyentes, surgidos en parte como demagógica respuesta a las políticas neoliberales de la Unión Europea, alimenta el rechazo alérgico al diferente y desemboca en la deshumanizante y autodestructiva patología de la xenofobia. Salir de ella supone, en palabras de Lévinas, “encontrar al otro sin alergia, es decir, en la justicia”, reconociéndolo en su humanidad y tratándole como su dignidad exige. Frente a discursos nacionalistas y neoliberales, la supervivencia de Europa como proyecto pasa por articular una política verdaderamente hospitalaria conforme a exigencias éticas insoslayables.

    Europe’s response to the so-called “refugee crisis” has revealed its cracking as a supranational project not only in its monetary and economic dimension, but also in its political and coexistential aspects. The rising of exclusive nationalist approaches, emerging partially as a demagogic response to the neoliberal policies of the European Union, fuels the allergic rejection of the different, and leads to the dehumanizing and selfdestructive pathology of xenophobia. Abandoning this perspective entails, in the words of Lévinas, “finding the Other without allergy, that is, in justice”, recognizing the Other in his/her humanity and treating him/her as his/her dignity demands. Faced with nationalist and neoliberal discourses, the survival of Europe as a project requires articulating a truly hospitable policy in accordance with unavoidable ethical demands.
