    Una de las grandes incógnitas que ha surgido en el ámbito deportivo se centra en determinar, sI la velocidad crítica (VC) es el mejor predictor del éxito en eventos de resistencia comparativamente con mediciones de laboratorio como el umbral de lactato y el Consumo Máximo de Oxígeno (VO2 max).

    La respuesta es muy controversial, porque muchos investigadores han informado que el VO2 max es el mejor indicador del éxito en el rendimiento de la resistencia. Sin embargo, en eventos de una duración aproximada de treinta minutos, el VO2 max, el umbral de lactato (UL) y la velocidad crítica parecen ser similares en su capacidad de pronosticar el rendimiento. Esto no es sorprendente, al considerar que la velocidad crítica está altamente correlacionada con estos indicadores (Scott, 2002).

    One of the big mysteries that has arisen in the sports area, centres on being determined by it, yes is the critical speed (VC) the best predictor of the success in events of resistance comparatively with labora- tor measurements as the threshold of lactato and the Maximum Consumption of Oxygen (VO2 max)?.

    The response is very controversial, because many investigators(researchers) have informed that the VO2 max is the best indicator of the success in the performance of the resistance. Nevertheless, in events of an approximate duration of thirty minutes, the VO2 max, the threshold of lactato (UL) and the critical speed seem to be similar in his aptitude to predict the performance. This is not surprising, on having thought that the critical speed is highly correlated by these indicators (Scott; 2002).
