Fruit size improvement by thinning techniques. Every cherry producer knows that the fruits size determines the retail price, and therefore this factor affects directly the profitability of its exploitation.
In a settled plot, if we applied every cultivation technique that we know in order to obtain the best fruit sizes, the fruit size will be essentially conditioned by the number of leaves per fruit.
Thinning of shoots, spurs, flowers or fruits has a different and direct influence on final fruit size. In this paper, the results obtained with flower thinning, as well as some rough outlines of different thinning techniques, are presented.
