  El artículo discute algunos problemas que enfrentan las ciencias sociales en el siglo 21 con el desarrollo de la tecnología, especialmente las redes sociales, que crean nuevos desafíos para el proceso de conocimiento de la sociedad y la cultura. Al mismo tiempo, se afirma la vigencia de la epistemología de las ciencias sociales al insistir en las preguntas fundamentales sobre el conocimiento. Dentro de estas preguntas, se destaca el cómo por sobre el qué del objeto de investigación. Se concluye que las distinciones binarias sobre las cuales se han construido las ciencias sociales deberían dar paso a múltiples distinciones para adecuarse mejor a la complejidad del mundo social.

  The article discusses some problems faced by social science in the 21st century with the development of technology, especially social media, creating new challenges to the process of understanding society and culture. At the same time, it is reaffirm the validity of social science epistemology by insisting on fundamentals questions about knowledge. Among those questions, it is highlighted the question of how over the why regarding the object of research. It concludes that binary distinctions over which social sciences have been created should give way to multiple distinctions for better fit into the complexity of the social world.
