Resumen de Os residuos orgánicos de orixe doméstica en Rois

Javier Santiago Caamaño, Xurxo Pombo Rego

  • During the academic year 2012-2013 a group of secondary school pupils and their Biology and Geology teachers carried out a research project about domestic organic waste in Rois Council (Galicia, Spain). First, the students interviewed their families in the villages where they live to compile all kinds of information about domestic waste in that particular area. In this survey they collected data about the domestic waste treatment, and could compare it with the SOGAMA model, which gathers most of the Galician councils ́waste. The students visited the SOGAMA factory and the Barbanza`s waste treatment plant and also watched a new experience about waste treatment at medium-scale at Coruña University. Furthermore, the group attended a speech by the environment organization ADE-GA and built a handmade compost bin to recycle the organic waste collected at the school canteen. Finally,a video about the experience was made and presented at a students ́meeting organized by CEIDA
