Prejuízos nas habilidades sociais em usuários de crack: Diferenças entre usuários e não usuários

      The use of crack sets up a public health problem in Brazil, becoming relevant the knowledge about the characteristics of users for effective actions. Among the characteristics of the crack user population, the possibility of impairment in social skills can interfere with the recovery process of the user, making it difficult to social reinsertion without using the drug. Given the relevance of this subject, and the limited information on this subject, the aim of this study was to investigate the deficits in social skills in crack users in treatment in therapeutic communities comparing users and non-users. This is a cross-sectional, quantitative, descriptive and comparative study. The study participants were 96 men, between 18 and 60 years, divided into two groups: 48 crack users in treatment and 48 subjects’ non-users substance. The groups were matched for age and educational level. Individuals with psychotic syndrome, and / or cognitive impairment were excluded, evaluated from the diagnostic interview M.I.N.I and from the cognitive screening of the Wais, respectively. The instruments used for the evaluation were: Questionnaire of sociodemographic characteristics and of substance consumption pattern and Social Skills Inventory. For the comparison, the social skills between groups was applied Student’s t-Test. The results identified skills on Coping with minor Risk among non-users of substances, Indicating that crack users are more likely to defend their rights.i However, identified significant impairment in social skills of crack users compared to nonusers, relative to the Conversation social and resourcefulness and Selfcontrol aggressiveness to aversive situations. Such skills are essential for socializing and for the maintenance of professional and family interpersonal relationships. Thus, the deficits in the identified social skills can hinder the process of social reinsertion of crack users and the maintenance of treatment. Like this, the present study emphasizes that knowledge about the development of social skills in this population could help in the recovery process of crack users. Furthermore, it is indicated novel studies on social skills in crack users in other treatment settings.

      Prejuízos nas habilidades sociais podem interferir no processo de recuperação do usuário de crack.

      O objetivo deste estudo foi verificar o déficit nas habilidades sociais nos usuários de crack em tratamento em comunidades terapêuticas através da comparação entre usuários e não usuários.

      Participaram 96 homens, entre 18 e 60 anos, divididos em dois grupos: 48 usuários de crack em tratamento e 48 indivíduos não usuários de substâncias. Foram excluídos participantes com síndrome psicótica ou prejuízo cognitivo. Os instrumentos foram: Questionário de dados sociodemográfico e de padrão de consumo, o Inventário de Habilidades Sociais, a M.I.N.I e o Screening cognitivo do Wais. Os resultados identificaram menores habilidades sobre Enfrentamento com Risco entre os indivíduos não usuários de substâncias. Porém, identificou-se prejuízos significativos nas habilidades sociais entre os usuários de crack quando comparados aos não usuários, em relação à Conversação e desenvoltura social e ao Autocontrole da agressividade a situações aversivas. Dessa forma, o conhecimento sobre desenvolvimento das habilidades sociais nesta população poderia auxiliar no processo de recuperação do usuário de crack.
