    Por vez primera, y a partir de la investigación directa sobre las fuentes documentales, se ofrece un estudio sintético del universo confraternal de la ciudad de Logroño durante la Edad Moderna. Tras la desaparición de las cofradías medievales o su transformación, nacen numerosas cofradías de carácter marcadamente devocional, radicadas tanto en las parroquias como en los conventos masculinos. Destaca su elevado número, en torno a cincuenta a mediados del siglo XVII, respecto a la población total. La mayor parte son cofradías de carácter general y abierto pero también existen algunas gremiales y estamentales.

    For the first time, and from the direct research on the documentary sources, is published a synthetic study of the confraternal world of Logroño during the Modern Age. After the disappearance of the medieval brotherhoods or their transformation, born several devotional brotherhoods, based throughout in parishes and in male monasterys. Is particularly significant the large number, around 50, of the total population in the middle of the XVII century. Most of these brotherhoods are institutions of a general and open nature, but there are also a few of a guild and a class nature.
