    A violência contra a mulher aconteceu em todos os períodos históricos, sendo socialmente admitida, na maioria das sociedades. Até décadas atrás, à mulher cabia o interior da casa, a maternidade, sendo excluída dos espaços públicos. Atualmente ela ampliou suas esferas de atuação, tendo acesso à educação formal, ao mercado de trabalho, à participação política. Pode ter independência financeira, escolher a profissão que quer seguir e ser ou não mãe, na maior parte dos lugares em que está inserida. Observa-se, portanto, muitas diferenças na vida das mulheres com o passar do tempo, contudo, muito embora a violência contra elas já não seja mais tolerada no meio social, ela ainda existe, pois está arraigada em comportamentos culturais que foram perpetuados e chegaram até os dias atuais. Como a violência não é mais aceita, mecanismos legais e institucionais foram criados pelo poder público para proteger e atender a mulher agredida

    Violence against woman happened in all historical periods, being socially admitted in most of societies. Until decades ago, it was the woman responsibility to take care to the house interior and the motherhood, being excluded to the public spaces. Nowadays, she amplified her acting fronts and she has access to the formal education, to the working market and to the political participation. She may have financial independence, chose a kind of job that prefers, be or not a mother, in most of the spaces that she occupies. It can be observed, therefore, a lot the differences in the women lives over time. Even so the violence against women is no longer accepted in the social surrounding, it stills exists, because it is deep-rooted in the cultural behaviors that were perpetuated and kept to the current days. Because violence is no longer accepted, legal and institutional mechanisms were created by the public service to protect and assist women that were abused
