    Las figuras de Sofía o Shekinah representan la imagen femenina de Dios en las tradiciones gnósticas y judías, respectivamente. Este interesante símbolo se convierte con el cristianismo medieval en el prototipo de la Virgen María, una figura femenina que acaba disociándose de la noción de conocimiento espiritual. En los años setenta y ochenta del siglo XX escritoras y teólogas feministas deconstruyen las lecturas masculinas de mitos como el de Sofía. La escritora británica Michèle Roberts rescata algunas de estas figuras mostrándolas como paradigmas válidos de identificación para las mujeres. y en “The Book of Mrs Noah” asocia a la Sabiduría con el poder de la creación literaria. representado en las figuras de la señora Noé y de cinco Sibilas que la acompañan en un viaje de iniciación y autoconocimiento. Las Sibilas son guardianas del conocimiento y compiladoras de la historia femenina a lo largo de los siglos, y su misión es contrarrestar el poder divino del logos. administrado por el Capataz.     The figures of Sophia or Shekinah stand for the feminine image of God in the Gnostic and Jewish traditions. This intriguing and powerful symbol was eventually turned in medieval Christianity into the prototype of the Virgin Mary, with the result of exempting the new female figure of its association with spiritual knowledge. In the 1970s and 80s feminist writers and theologians counteracted male-biased readings of mythical types like Sophia. The British writer Michele Roberts rescues some of these figures as valid paradigms of identification for women, and in “The Book of Mrs Noah” she associates the character of Wisdom/ Sophia with the power of literary creation. represented by Mrs Noah and by five Sibyls who accompany her in a journey of initiation and self-discovery on board the Ark. Thc Sibyls are the guardians of kno" ledge and the recorders of women's neglected history throughout the centuries, and their mission is to counteract God's presence as logos, administered by Gaffer, a parody of a malc sage. Sophia manifests itself in the act of creation: in a material sense, favoring women's reconciliation with their bodies, and in a spiritual-cum-intellectual sense, linking crcation and literary output.
