Resumen de Les Gommes, Robbe-Grillet and the "terrorist" recycling of the myth of Oedipus

  Utilizando los instrumentos que la epistemocrítica propone para el análisis de los modos de funcionamiento del saber en las obras de ficción, el presente estudio pretende, a partir de las principales apariciones del mito de Edipo en “Les Gommes”, dilucidar las funciones que se relacionan con ellos. Estas son, por un lado, orientadas hacia el papel activo concedido al lector; el cual, particularmente, es invitado a efectuar una búsqueda lúdica y es provisto de elementos susceptibles de ayudarle a interpretar el texto. Por otra parte, estas funciones permiten señalar las características de una nueva estética novelesca, la cual pone énfasis en la importancia de la forma. Usando a la vez el mito como una limitación y como un simple material, Robbe-Grillet le cambia completamente el sentido, que es multiplicado de manera tal que lleva a lecturas tan plurales como aleatorias.

  By using the tools provided by epistemic criticism for the analysis of bodies of knowledge's operating processes in works of fiction. the present study aims to elucidate the functions attached to the main occurrences of the myth of Oedipus in “Les Gommes”. They are, on the one hand, directed towards an active role assigned lo the reader, who is notably invited to carry out playful rcsearch as he or she is provided with elements likely to help him or her interpret the text. On the other hand. these functions indicate the features of a new novelistic aesthetic, which stresses the importance of the form. Using myth as both a constraint andas simple material. Robbe-Grillet subverts its meaning, which is multiplied in order to lead to interpretations that are as many as they are random.
