Ésta es la historia del término Humania del Sur, surgido en la conciencia del autor como sustituto de “Tercer Mundo” durante la era Reagan-Thatcher, cuando se quiso reducir el significado de las palabras “liberación” y “redención” al marco de la “Guerra Fría”, olvidando el contexto de la colonización. Tras revisar las implicaciones de la terminología empleada entre 1950-1960, Nweihed narra cómo siendo diplomático venezolano en Londres, finalmente encontró un denominador común aceptable para las colectividades latinoamericanas, innegablemente “occidentalizadas”, y las asiáticas, africanas y caribeñas que formaban los núcleos tercermundistas de aquella ciudad, y lo que esperó para verlo “volar”.

This is the history of the term South Humania since the author conceived it as a substitute of “Third World” in the Reagan-Thatcher era, when, forgetting the context of colonization, the usage of words like “liberation” and “redemption” was restricted to the Cold War. Reviewing the implications of the terminology of the 1950s and 1960s, the author tells how, as a Venezuelan diplomat in London, he found a common denominator for the Latin American communities, clearly Westernized, and the Asian, African and Caribbean Third World groups of that city–and the wait until his neologism was adopted by other researchers.
