Las relaciones entre Venezuela y África se inician en 1950, cuando se establecen nexos conEgipto y Etiopía. Desde entonces el diálogo ha estado marcado por una actividad diplomáticarespaldada por el reconocimiento a las nacientes repúblicas y por las luchas en forosmultilaterales por la plena independencia de este continente. Es bajo esta dinámica que nuestropaís establece vínculos con la República Federal de Nigeria en 1965, manteniendo un nivel derelaciones permanente desde este momento hasta nuestros días, el cual intentaremos analizar ensu devenir histórico.

Relations between Venezuela and Africa were established in 1950, when ties were forged withEgypt and Ethiopia. Ever since, a diplomatic activity based on the recognition of the newrepublics and the struggles in multilateral forums in demand of the full independence of thiscontinent has underlied dialogue. It was as part of this dynamics that in 1965 our countryestablished links with the Federal Republic of Nigeria, maintaining ongoing relations eversince—the historical development of which this paper attempts to analyze.
