Resumen de Sea urchins may do swimmingly in acid oceans

Bob Holmes

  • Marine biologists fear an impending ecological catastrophe unless animals evolve to take up calcium more efficiently. To find out how well evolution can keep pace with the changing environment. Melissa Pespeni at Indiana University in Bloomington and her colleagues reared purple sea urchin larvae in water of normal or raised acidity. To their surprise, they found that the more acidic water did not seem to slow down the development of larval skeletons
