Resumen de The emergence of the political at the intersection between female migrations, mutual support and political participation: The experience of the Latin American and Caribbean Women's Network

El artículo abordará el proceso de construcción de la Red de Mujeres Latinoamericanas y del Caribe que reúne a trece asociaciones fundadas por mujeres migradas y a más de diez activistas latinoamericanas residentes en el Estado español en torno a la defensa de los derechos de las migrantes. El objetivo principal del artículo será el de dar cuenta de la potencialidad de la Red para constituirse como sujeto político en un contexto social, jurídico y económico, como el español, que dificulta las posibilidades de participación política de las personas migradas.
Se reflexionará acerca de las tensiones y contradicciones presentes en los procesos de construcción de sujetos políticos, que navegan entre la tarea de formular una narrativa propia, basada en el apoyo mutuo, el cuidado y la reciprocidad y las dinámicas de institucionalidad y jerarquización que se imponen desde las estructuras neoliberales de participación.

This article addresses the process of building the Latin American and Caribbean Women’s Network. The Network brings together thirteen organizations founded by immigrant women and more than ten Latin American human rights activists residing in Spain with the objective to join forces to defend migrants’ rights. The main goal of the article is to make visible the potential of the Network to become a political subject in a social, legal and economic context that makes it difficult for migrants to participate as political subjects. We discuss the tensions and contradictions involved in the processes of constructing a political subject, which oscillate between the need to formulate a distinctive narrative based on mutual aid, care and reciprocity and the dynamics of bureaucratization and hierarchy that are imposed from the neoliberal structures of participation.
