    In this article I present some considerations about femininity representations, based on Marian model, which were widespread in bourgeois Western culture of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. These speeches, created around a fixed identity of Mary, based in chastity, obedience and passivity, extolled the servile status of women, essentializing gender identities in society, in the family and within the domestic sphere. The result of specific intentions, these speeches have created the image of the martyr wife, good mother, good wife, entire self-sacrifice and above all remained submissive to men. These social forces contributed to a long process of acculturation and domestication of women, who sought to make women responsible for home, family, children, marriage and procreation, preventing all forms its activities outside the domestic sphere, spaces for men

    Neste artigo busco apresentar algumas considerações acerca das representações de feminilidade, baseadas no modelo Mariano, que foram amplamente difundidas na cultura Ocidental burguesa dos séculos XIX e XX. Estes discursos, criados em torno de uma identidade fixa de Maria, baseados na castidade, obediência e passividade, exaltavam a condição servil do feminino, essencializando identidades de gênero na sociedade, na família e no interior da esfera doméstica. Fruto de intencionalidades específicas, estes discursos, criaram a imagem da mulher mártir, boa mãe, boa esposa, inteira auto-sacrifício e que acima de tudo se mantinha submissa aos homens. Essas forças sociais contribuíram para um longo processo de aculturação e domesticação das mulheres, que buscava tornar o feminino responsável pela casa, família, filhos, casamento e procriação, impossibilitando de todas as formas sua atuação fora da esfera doméstica, espaços destinado aos homens.
