Paul Ludwig Landsberg: la veritat com a esperança davant la incertesa (en commemoració del 75 aniversari de la seva mort)

    L’objectiu d’aquest estudi obeeix a un triple motiu: En primer lloc, fer un esbós del nucli del pensament de Paul Ludwig Landsberg, filòsof personalista cabdal de notable influència sobre el personalisme francès d’Emmanuel Mounier, amb qui travà una profunda amistat, col·laborant amb la revista Esprit. En segon lloc, i de forma colateral i en relació amb l’obra de Landsberg, reflectir l’ambient convuls i inhumà que dominà Alemanya –i, de retruc, Europa– a finals dels anys vint i durant tota la dècada dels anys trenta. I, en tercer lloc, tenir presents les reflexions i valoracions testimonials de pensadors que varen conviure amb Landsberg en els temps foscos, com Jean Lacroix i, posteriorment, ja mort Landsberg, en situacions més raonables, com fou el cas de Jordi Maragall i Paul Ricoeur. En el present treball hom ha pretès fer palès l’elevat nivell «d’engatjament» humà de l’obra d’aquest filòsof en circumstàncies extremes de violentació per a molts éssers humans, portadors de drets i d’humanitat que ell sempre va mantenir i practicar. I en aquesta implicació ètica de la filosofia, la seva sensibilitat personalista hi fou sempre present.

    The aim of this essay comprises three reasons: First, to outline the core thought of P. L. Landsberg, a personalist philosopher who exerted a remarkable influence over French personalism and, in particular, over Emmanuel Mounier, with whom he initiated an enduring friendship as he collaborated with the Revue Esprit. Secondly, and in a collateral way and in relation to Landsberg’s work, to reflect the agitated and inhumane atmosphere that dominated Germany- and by the same token, Europe - at the end of the 1920s and during the 1930s. And in the third place, to draw attention to the reflections and testimonial evaluations of thinkers who were contemporary with Landsberg in the dark times, such as Jean Lacroix; and later, after Landsberg’s death, in more reasonable situations, as was the case of Jordi Maragall and Paul Ricoeur. In this piece, we emphasise the high level of human ‘engagement’ of this philosopher’s work, in very extreme and violent circumstances for many people, who had the rights and humanity that Landsberg always defended and practiced. And in this philosophical and ethical involvement, his personalistic sensibility was always present.
