    Los Estudios Animales han contribuido sin dudas al descentramiento del pensamiento y del arte con respecto a la figura de lo humano. No obstante, un cierto zoocentrismo parece reconducir en algunos discursos animalistas a la retórica metafísica del fundamento y la teleología convirtiendo al «Animal» en un fin, objeto de representación privilegiado.

    Desde la perspectiva del materialismo estético posthumano que adoptaré aquí, es posible pensar los animales no como fines sino como medios: mediums del arte (soporte/materia) y pura medialidad que, como el gesto agambeniano, ponen en jaque la estructura misma de significación y simbolización que ha servido para mantenerlos atados a la jerga humanista.

    Así, en este trabajo se abordarán algunas manifestaciones artísticas y discursos estéticos que intentan vérselas con la materia animal con ese elemento inestable que pertenece a la representación, pero la excede y que permite, por ello, pensar lo que Nicole Shukin llama el «capital animal

    Animal Studies have undoubtedly contributed to de-centering thought and art from human shape. However, a certain zoocentrism in some discourses seems to bring us back to the rhetorical metaphysics of foundation and teleology, turning the «Animal» into an end, a privileged object of representation. From the perspective of post-human aesthetic materialism that I will take on herein, we may think of animals not as an end, but as a means: mediums of art (support/matter) and pure mediality, which, just like the Agambean gesture, put in check the very structure of signification and symbolization which has served to keep them tied to humanistic jargon. Thus, in this work we will address several art examples and aesthetic discourses trying to deal with animal matter —with that unstable element in the domain of representation, but exceeding it and therefore allowing to reflect upon what Nicole Shukin has called «animal capital»
