    En el presente artículo se establece el procedimiento por el cual los funcionarios que formaban parte de la Secretaría del Despacho de Estado accedían a su cargo durante el siglo XVIII. Asimismo, además de establecer el procedimiento a nivel teórico, también se analizan diplomáticamente los diferentes documentos que conformaban el citado procedimiento de acceso. De este modo, se estudia el acceso al cargo del Secretario de Estado, de sus oficiales encargados de la gestión administrativa de la Secretaría de Estado y de otros cargos, a saber, el oficial de archivo o archivero, el ofi cial traductor o de lenguas, el portero, el mozo y, finalmente, el barrendero.

    This article establishes the procedure by which offi cials who were part of the State Department accessed their position during the 18th century. In addition to study this procedure at the theoretical level, also the different documents that were part of the mentioned procedure of access are diplomatically discussed. Thus, the way the Secretary of State, officials responsible for the administrative management of the Secretariat of State and other workers like the officer file or archivist, the offi cial translator, the doorman, the clerk and the sweeper obtained their job can be determined with accuracy.
