    Este artículo revisa el reciente debate sobre la relevancia moral de los artefactos tecnológicos, fundamentalmente generado a partir de los planteamientos de Peter-Paul Verbeek y, además, propone algunas contribuciones a la discusión. Antecedida por las teorías que afirman su agencia moral, la afirmación de la relevancia moral de los artefactos es posiblemente el más importante planteamiento realizado en el campo de la ética de la tecnología en las últimas décadas, Para comprender este planteamiento, el texto sintetiza la tesis de la relevancia moral de los artefactos; luego, hace algunas precisiones acerca de los argumentos que la sostienen para esclarecer algunos malentendidos, alrededor de los cuales se ha generado un amplio debate; adicionalmente, valora sus aportes al campo de la ética de la tecnología; finalmente, evalúa las críticas a esta perspectiva. El texto concluye con la presentación de algunas contribuciones al debate, relacionadas con las concepciones de agencia y relevancia moral. Específicamente, se argumenta que este planteamiento se puede sustentar en varias teorías de la agencia moral, en contraposición a las críticas que reducen el sentido de esta concepción a la teoría de la agencia moral sostenida desde la Teoría del Actor-Red.

    This article is a review of the recent debate on the moral relevance of technological artefacts, fundamentally generated from the approaches of Peter-Paul Verbeek, and it also proposes some contributions to the discussion. Preceded by the theories that assert its moral agency, the assertion of the moral relevance of artifacts is possibly the most important approach made in the field of technology ethics in recent decades. To understand this approach, the text synthesizes the thesis of the moral relevance of the artefacts; then, it makes some precisions about the arguments supporting the thesis to clarify some misunderstandings around which a wide debate has been generated. additionally, it values its contributions to the field of technology ethics; finally, it evaluates the criticisms of this perspective. The text concludes with the presentation of some contributions to the debate, related to the conceptions of agency and moral relevance. Specifically, it is argued that this approach can be sustained in several theories of moral agency, as opposed to criticisms reducing the sense of this conception to the theory of moral agency sustained from the Actor-Red Theory.

      Through the detailed analysis of the arguments presented by Verbeek, it has been possible to specify the following: artifacts can be sources of morality, and therefore morally relevant, insofar as they have a mediating role that transforms our perceptions and our actions and introduce indeterminate courses of action. This implies distributing the moral agency between human beings and artifacts. But artifacts cannot be moral agents independently of human agency, but always associated with it. This precision is fundamental to clear up the misunderstandings on which the main criticisms of this approach have been based.
