    El objetivo de este artículo es exponer las características fundamentales del proyecto transhumanista, distinguirlo cuidadosamente del posthumanismo, que se basa en la hipótesis de la posibilidad de lograr un día una inteligencia artificial fuerte, y luego discutir, suponiendo que esto sea posible, las posibles ventajas que la extensión de la vida podría tener para nosotros.

    This article proposes to present the basic characteristic features of the transhumanist project, to distinguish it carefully from posthumanism, which rests on the hypothesis that it is possible to envisage the creation of a powerful artificial intelligence. It will then discuss the potential advantages that living longer would represent for us—assuming it is possible.

    Il s’agit dans cet article d’exposer les traits caractéristiques fondamentaux du projet transhumaniste, de le distinguer soigneusement du posthumanisme, qui repose sur l’hypothèse de la possibilité de parvenir un jour à une intelligence artificielle forte, puis de discuter, en admettant que cela soit possible, des avantages éventuels que pourrait avoir pour nous l’allongement de la vie.
