    Describe la presencia de la investigación como elemento fundamental de un proceso creativo, se toma como estudio de caso al maestro Rafael Zamarripa Castañeda, artista visual y coreógrafo mexicano, quien a partir de su filosofía de trabajo RaZa implementada en la Universidad de Colima, ésta se convierte en ente generador de procesos académicos y artísticos: la licenciatura en Danza Escénica como producto académico; la obra coreográfica del Ballet Folklórico como producto artístico, y la Técnica RaZa como producto formativo y creativo de un lenguaje corporal, originado de la necesidad de apoyar la transmisión del conocimiento de la danza folklórica mexicana.

    En estos tres espacios se aplica el principio de la investigación como fundamento del proceso creativo, convirtiéndolos así en un legado de su filosofía de trabajo.

    The purpose of this article is to explain why research is an essential component of the creative process. A case study was conducted to analyze the work of the Mexican visual artist and choreographer Rafael Zamarripa Castañeda. Based on his knowledge, beliefs, and wealth of experience, he created Raza; a work philosophy that has been implemented at the University of Colima and has produced academic and artistic outcomes. An example of the former is the BA in Dance offered by this university; one of the latter is the dances performed by the Mexican Folk Dance Company from this university. A third product has been the dance technique called Raza, which has been used to train dancers and help them develop Mexican folk dance skills. Thus, this technique was created to assist the transmission of knowledge of this type of dance. Research played a vital role in the creative process which was carried out to obtain these outcomes. All in all, it can be said that they are the result of this artist’s work philosophy.
