This book uncovers the structural transformation of the Indian economy in the presence of the digital divide. The reform process of globalisation, which resulted in substantially higher gross domestic product (GDP) growth rates, particularly in the early years, turned out not to be effective in reducing poverty or improving employment. The mixed outcomes on economic performance and on employment, inequality and poverty make it extremely difficult to assess the impact of globalisation.
