The article depicts Marx's account of dialectics within the framework of his theoreti¬cal reflection, with special attention to his relationship with Hegel's thought - at the same time characterised by critique and continuity - as well as to the problem of the periodisation of Marxian research. Relying on textual analysis, the article argues that while Marxian themes evolved through the years, showing the progressive prevailing of economic interests, the theoretical structure kept essentially stable, shaped by the dialectical perspective.
