  Más allá de la posible influencia de Ortega sobre Gaos, me propongo explorar los radicales filosóficos que convergen en la obra de ambos filósofos en torno a dos de los conceptos que resultaron centrales para sus respectivas filosofías de la vida humana como sujeto histórico: circunstancia y vocación. No los entendieron de la misma forma. De ahí mi propósito de elaborar una comparación entre el rendimiento de ambos conceptos en sus respectivos discursos buscando las iluminaciones que las diferencias arrojan sobre sus respectivas obras.   Beyond the matter of a possible influence of Ortega over Gaos, in this paper I aim to find the converging roots in the work of both philosophers with regards of two concepts that were prominent to their philosophies of human life as a historical matter, i.e., the issues of circumstance and vocation. Though these philosopher did not understand these in the same way, I however propose making a comparison between the place of both concepts in their respective discourses, seeking to shed light in the difference cast by their respective oeuvres.
