Resumen de Docente intelectual: gestor de la reflexión crítica

  El docente intelectual tiene dos funciones primordiales dentro de la sociedad: ilustrar cómo se debe vivir en las sociedades democráticas y capacitar instrumentalmente a los individuos; ambos conocimientos son necesarios y útiles para construir un proyecto de vida digno. Sin embargo, el docente se ha convertido en un mero transmisor de conocimientos instrumentales con los que adoctrina a los alumnos sobre los beneficios que conlleva convertirse en asalariados disciplinados y obedientes dentro del sistema capitalista. En este sentido, la escuela y el aula no son lugares neutros, sino espacios sociales donde ocurren intercambios socioculturales y se generan relaciones conflictivas; pero al mismo tiempo son espacios de resistencia. Espacios donde los individuos aprenden a leer la realidad a través de la actividad de un docente que gestiona la reflexión crítica dentro del aula.

  The intellectual teacher carries out two main functions within the society: to enlighten about how people must live in democratic societies and to offer to their members an instrumental training; both kinds of knowledge are necessary and useful in order to build a decent life project. Nevertheless, the teacher has gradually turned into a simple transmitter of instrumental knowledge with which he/she indoctrinates the students about the benefits of becoming disciplined and obedient wage earners within the capitalist system. In this sense school and the classroom are definitively not neutral, but social spaces where sociocultural exchanges take place and where controversial relations arise, and, at the same time, spaces for resistance, spaces where the individuals learn to interpret reality through the activity of a teacher who manages the critical reflection within the classroom.
