The present article discusses, through the works of the writer Olívio Jekupé, the emergence of the Guarani fiction. This will require understand the authorial construction of a place of literary enunciation marked by successive transits between the village and the city, the house and the school, and between systems of knowledge, from independent publications of Jekupé until its incorporation into the publishing market of children’s literature. The consolidation and expansion of a “native literature”, as explained by the author, depend to a great extent on the tension between the occupation of prewritten literary places and the construction of a singular writing. The struggle of the author is, therefore, analogous to that of some of his characters through successive transits and the clearing of paths. Not free from contradictions, the author seeks a break in the literary field and new developments, such as significant experiences in other editorial categories.
