Heráldica municipal de la Muy Noble y Leal Ciudad de Santiago de Castro (Chiloé): dos variantes históricas y una propuesta de rectificación

    Esta investigación explicita dos escudos de armas municipales históricos de la ciudad de Santiago de Castro (capital de Chiloé): uno de origen sigilográfico (del siglo XVII) y otro vexilológico (del siglo XVIII). Se analizan las referencias conocidas al actual emblema por parte de esta ciudad (siglo XX), aunque evidenciando una serie de importantísimos errores heráldicos. Concluye con una propuesta de rectificación heráldica (siglo XXI), que pretende subsanar el uso incorrecto, y una vexilológica; buscando aportar a la emblemática americana un lugar de mayor valoración histórica y documental.

    This research explains two historical coats of municipal arms from the city of Santiago de Castro (capital of Chiloé): one of sigilographic (XVIIth century) and another of vexillological origin (of the XVIIIth century). The known references to the present emblem by this city are analyzed (XXth century), albeit evidencing a series of very important heraldic errors. It will be finally provide an heraldic rectification proposal (XXIth century), as well as a vexilological one, which aims to correct the erroneous use, and to contribute to the American emblematic a place of greater historical and documentary value
