La función del maestro ha cambiado radicalmente. Desde aquellos lejanos años en que inicié mi labor docente, donde la función principal del maestro consistía en administrar y regular todos los aspectos de la vida académica, hasta nuestros días, han aparecido numerosos desafíos, tanto profesionales como sociales, que las futuras maestras y maestros tendrán que afrontar. ¿Qué valores, qué perfil, qué rasgos personales han de tener aquellos estudiantes que se enfrentan a un contexto profesional tan complejo? Os invito a leer este texto que, en forma de cuento, trata de expresar lo esencial: para construir un gran maestro necesitamos partir de una gran persona.

The role of the master has changed radically. From those distant years when I began my teaching work, where the main function of the teacher was to administer and regulate all aspects of academic life, to the present day, numerous challenges have arisen, both professional and social, that future teachers will have to face. What values, what profile, what personal traits should those students who face such a complex professional context have? I invite you to read this text which, in the form of a story, tries to express the essential: to build a great teacher we need to start from a great person.
