Resumen de Un nuovo testimone manoscritto della traduzione francese delle “Troiane” di Euripide di Jacques Amyot (Torino, BNU L VI 15)

Elena La Rocca

  • The manuscript BNU L VI 15 belongs to the French fund of the Biblioteca Nazionale Universitaria of Turin and it contains the translation of the Troianes of Euripides realized by Jacques Amyot in the first half of the sixteenth century. The code was greatly damaged by the fire that the library suffered in 1904, but fortunately the text is almost entirely readable. Another copy of the text is kept at the Library of the Musée Condé of Chantilly (Chantilly, ms. 613). The modern edition of Amyot’s translation was made in 1996 using only the text of Chantilly, but it cannot be considered really satisfactory due to the absence of a critical apparatus and to the transcription criteria adopted by the editor, therefore the discovery of a new witness can be particularly useful for the realization of a critical edition of the work. The present study compares the two manuscripts and highlights the most significant variants that allow us to formulate some hypotheses on the relationship between the two codes.
