Resumen de Problemas, alternativas y tensiones en torno al financiamiento de la educación superior

Los cambios en los patrones de financiamiento que ha experimentado la educación superior en los pasados 20 o 25 años han provocado profundas transformaciones. Este ensayo analiza algunas de las principales causas de los mencionados cambios, y tiene como referencia principal las situaciones por las que han atravesado las instituciones de educación superior en Europa y Estados Unidos. Además, se discuten las formas más destacadas en las que se manifiestan los problemas financieros que ha enfrentado la educación superior en las últimas décadas. Finalmente, se destacan algunas de las estrategias que se han desarrollado para enfrentar la crisis financiera por la que atraviesan las instituciones de educación superior, sobre todo las públicas.

The changes within the funding patterns undergone by higher education in the last twenty or twenty-five years have given raise to profound transformations. This study analyses some of the main causes of those changes, and has a main references the critical situation in which higher education institution in Europe and the United States have been living. Besides, it offers a discussion about the most outstanding ways in which the financial problems that higher education had to tackle with during the last decades show up. Finally, the author highlights some of the strategies that have been developed in order to deal with the financial crisis that higher education institution, and above all the public ones, goes through.
