    Este trabajo examina las tendencias en el estudio de las profesiones, desde los primeros intentos, en los años sesenta, hasta su conformación crítica en los ochenta, y evalúa la validez de ciertos estudios para teorizar en ese campo. Para ello, clarifica la naturaleza del concepto de "profesión", acotando su naturaleza dentro de una concepción genérica de las ocupaciones. Asimismo, aborda el concepto como una construcción histórica de ciertas sociedades, y analiza de manera general el desarrollo, uso y consecuencias que tal concepto tiene en esas sociedades. Finalmente, trata el problema de la definición, su relatividad y parcialidad, y apunta posibles líneas de investigación para continuar con su estudio crítico.

    In this article, the author analyzes the trends in the studies about professions, from the first tentatives, during the sixties, until its critical period in the eighties, and he questions the validity of some of those studies to theorize in this field. Therefore he clarifies the nature of a concept as "profession", situating it within a generical conception of employment. He also takes the concept as a historical construction of some societies and analyzes in a general way the development, the use and the outcomes that such a concept can have in those societies. The article finally tackles with the problem of the conceptual definition, its relativity and partiality and shows potential research outlines that would help to continue this critical study.
