Imagen corporal en anorexia y bulimia nerviosa. Variables asociadas: autoestima, impulsividad, culpa y miedo a la madurez

    Introducción. El objetivo de este estudio es analizar el nivel de autoestima, impulsividad, miedo a la madurez y sentimiento de culpa, así como el valor predictivo que poseen dichas variables en la preocupación por la figura corporal en mujeres con Anorexia (AN) y Bulimia Nerviosa (BN)  atendiendo al tipo de diagnóstico y al tratamiento al que están acogidas.Método. La muestra clínica la conforman 30 mujeres diagnosticadas de Anorexia y Bulimia Nerviosa,  de edades comprendidas entre 14 y 24 años (Medad= 19,1 DT= 0,54) y nacionalidad española. Para la  evaluación de las variables de estudio se administró el Cuestionario de la Silueta Corporal (BSQ), la Escala de autoestima de Rosenberg (RSES), la Escala de Impulsividad de Barratt (BIS-11), el Cuestionario de Evaluación de Síntomas (SCL-90-R) y el Inventario de Trastornos Alimentarios (EDI-2).Resultados. Las mujeres que conforman el grupo de BN poseen mayor grado de preocupación por la figura corporal que las diagnosticadas con AN. La variable autoestima presenta una asociación  negativa y estadísticamente significativa con la preocupación por la imagen corporal en toda la muestra  estudiada. Se ha observado una relación positiva estadísticamente significativa entre la  preocupación por la imagen y las variables impulsividad, sentimiento de culpa y miedo a la madurez en todo el grupo muestral. Finalmente, el conjunto de las variables estudiadas consiguen explicar el 77%  de la varianza en la preocupación por el cuerpo.Conclusiones. Los hallazgos de este trabajo ponen de manifiesto la importancia que tienen la autoestima, impulsividad, sentimiento de culpa y miedo a la madurez en la presencia de  preocupación por la figura corporal en mujeres diagnosticadas de AN y BN, por lo es necesario hacer  hincapié en su detección para su posterior abordaje en los programas de intervención.

    Introduction. The objective of this study was to determine the level of self-esteem, impulsivity,  presence of fear of maturity and feeling of guilt, and the association of these variables with the concern  over body shape in patients diagnosed with Eating Disorder (ED).Method. The clinical sample is based on 30 women diagnosed with Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa,  from 14 to 24 years old (M= 19,1 SD=0,54) and Spanish nationality. For the evaluation of the study  variables it used the Body Shape Questionnaire (BSQ), the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES), the  Barratt Impulsiveness Scale (BIS-11), the Symptom Checklist-90-R (SCL) -90-R) and the Eating  Disorders Inventory-2 (EDI-2).Results. The group diagnosed with BN obtained an average puntuation more raised in the variable concern for body shape than the AN group. The self- esteem presented a negative statistically  significant relationship with concern over body shape in the total of the sample. There is a positive  statistically significant relationship between the concern over body shape and impulsivity, guilt and fear of maturity in the total sample. In addition, these variables explained 77% of the variance in the  concern over body shape.Conclusion. The findings of this investigation highlight the importance of self-esteem, impulsivity, guilt  and fear of maturity in the presence of concern over body shape in women diagnosed with AN  and BN, so it is necessary to emphasize their detection for its subsequent approach in intervention  programs.
