En este artículo se presentan los principales hallazgos de una investigación llevada a cabo en el primer semestre de 2017 con dos grupos de estudiantes que cursaban los Estudios Generales en la Sede Rodrigo Facio de la Universidad de Costa Rica. El estudio tenía por objetivos: 1) Identificar el conocimiento que tienen los estudiantes de primer ingreso sobre los Estudios Generales, 2) Distinguir los principales obstáculos en el proceso de adaptación a la educación universitaria respecto de los Estudios Generales, 3) Determinar las dificultades que han tenido los estudiantes de primer ingreso con la materia de Filosofía y Pensamiento del Curso Integrado de Humanidades I, y 4) Reconocer cuáles estrategias metodológicas utilizadas en la materia de Filosofía y Pensamiento fueron funcionales para los estudiantes de primer ingreso. Los discentes concluyeron desde sus experiencias en el aula que la importancia de los Estudios Generales reside en su valor formativo y educativo.
This article is about the main findings of a research carried out in the first semester of 2017 with two groups of students who studied General Studies at the Rodrigo Facio Campus of the University of Costa Rica. The objectives of the study were: 1) To identify the knowledge that first-graders have about General Studies 2) To distinguish the main obstacles in the process of adaptation of the university with respect to General Studies 3) To determine the difficulties that have had the first income students with the course of Philosophy and Thought of the Integrated Humanities I, and 4) Recognize which methodological strategies were used in the subject of Philosophy and Thought that were functional for first income students. The students concluded from their experiences in the classroom that the importance of General Studies are in their formative and educational value.
