  Una de las principales justificaciones que utilizó la United Fruit Company para legitimar su entrada y permanencia en la región centroamericana, fue la llegada de la ciencia y la tecnología traída por ella.  En ese sentido, es importante estudiar la forma en que la transnacional logró consolidar esa representación tanto en el público estadounidense como en el centroamericano.

  Así mismo, la historia de la empresa y su representación de la ciencia y tecnología son también la continuidad de una construcción que desarrollo la confrontación entre naturaleza y ciencia en la historia estadounidense.

  Se parte del estudio de caso de la división Golfito, para explicar los medios que utilizó la transnacional para legitimar y construir esa representación.

  One of the main justifications used by the United Fruit Company to legitimize its entry and stay in the Central American region was the arrival of the science and technology brought by it. In that sense, it is important to study the way in which the transnational managed to consolidate that representation in both the American and Central American publics.

  Likewise, the history of the company and its representation of science and technology are also the continuity of a construction that developed the confrontation between nature and science in American history.

  It is based on the case study of the Golfito division, to explain the means used by the transnational to legitimize and build that representation.
