  Este trabajo tiene como propósito establecer los objetivos políticos y militares del ejército español que, procedente de Flandes, entró en las tierras de Federico del Palatinado en 1620 al mando del capitán general Ambrosio Spínola. Esta intervención supuso para la corona española su primera injerencia real y directa en la Guerra de los Treinta Años. Para ello, se estudiarán desde la perspectiva de Bruselas las consecuencias que la rebelión de Bohemia y las acciones de Federico del Palatinado tuvieron con respecto al conflicto entre Flandes y las Provincias Unidas y al final de la Tregua de los Doce Años. En este mismo sentido se analizarán las relaciones entre el archiduque Alberto, Felipe III y el Emperador, así como el papel que jugó el marqués Spínola en la toma de postura de la Monarquía española en relación con el problema de Bohemia.

  The purpose of this work is to establish the political and military objectives that led to the operation of the Spanish army that, coming from Flanders, entered the lands of Federico del Palatinate in 1620 under the command of Captain General Ambrosio Spínola. This intervention was for the Spanish crown his first real and direct interference in the Thirty Years War. For this, the consequences of the Bohemian rebellion and the actions of Frederick of the Palatinate on the conflict between Flanders and the United Provinces and at the end of the Twelve Years' Truce will be studied from the perspective of Brussels. In this same sense the relations between the Archduke Albert, Felipe III and the Emperor will be analysed, as well as the role played by the Marquis Spínola in the taking of position of the Spanish monarchy in relation to the problem of Bohemia
