Resumen de Ecological Challenges and New Identities: Land rights and Domus rights

Alexandre Zabalza

  • For the first time of the Anthropocene, humanity is about to face an ecological threat, while being at the same time its author and victim. The globalization principle reveals a paradoxical component: the increase of economical wealth is being detrimental to natural resources, which are being depleted.

This phenomenon would not have a moral impact, if it would allow preserving on one hand the human freedoms and on the other hand the natural heritage. Yet, this exhaustion of environmental resources actually affects the fundamental rights and freedoms of humanity.

Our ambition is here to present a new conceptual tool, capable of legally linking human to their natural heritage: "the domestic identity". This form of accountable identity would allow to formulate a new right of the land, likely to preserve and protect land and earth communities, in the aim of a universal justice.
