    Excluimos enteramente las religiones, siguiendo el ejemplo de las Cortes de Cádiz en lo que a nuestro entender dieron una de las pruebas de su sabiduría. Dígase que somos intolerantes: esto poco importa. No queremos se renueven en nuestra Patria las horribles escenas de la Francia. No hay un solo pensador que no inculque sobre la necesidad de este principio, y sobre qué debe ser reconocido por ley constitucional. La imprenta libre es el freno de los ambiciosos.

    We totally exclude religions, following the example of the Cortes of Cádiz in what we believe gave one of the proofs of their wisdom. Tell yourself that we are intolerant: this matters little. We do not want the horrible scenes of France to be renewed in our Homeland. There is not a single thinker who does not inculcate the necessity of this principle, and on what should be recognized by constitutional law. Free printing is the brake of the ambitious.
