El tercermundismo como doctrina política internacional en el acercamiento de Irán a Venezuela

    El presente artículo reflexiona sobre la asociación entre el Irán del presidente Mahmoud Ahmadineyad y la Venezuela del presidente Hugo Chávez, bajo la lógica del discurso tercermundista. El argumento principal es que el discurso de reivindicación tercermundista le permitió al régimen iraní acercarse a países que comparten su crítica al sistema internacional y al poderío de Estados Unidos. Pero, por otra parte, no logró desarrollar la suficiente adhesión social interna que justifique tal asociación. Por tanto, el discurso tercermundista ha servido como instrumento de política internacional, mientras que en el plano interno el régimen sigue siendo conservador.

    This article aims to reflect on the association between Iran led by Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and Venezuela led by Hugo Chavez under the logic of the third-world discourse. The main argument is that the developing world vindication discourse allowed the Iranian regime to approach countries that share its criticism of the international system and of United States power. However, these approaches did not achieve an enhancement of their internal social cohesion that could justify such association. Although the third-world discourse has therefore worked out as an international policy instrument, it is still conservative in the internal level of the regimes.
