Hace un par de años, en Nasville (Tenesse), Al Gore reunió el primer grupo de voluntarios a los que expuso los riesgos que corría el Planeta de no frenar de forma inmediata el problema del cambio climático. Tenían la tarea de propagar ese mensaje de advertencia a sus vecinos, compañeros de trabajo, familiares... Desde entonces, más de cuatro millones de ciudadanos de todo el mundo han sido partícipes de algún acto de concienciación ciudadana promovido por los miembros de The Climate Project: un verdadero 'ejército verde' que se moviliza para sensibilizar a la población y los gobiernos del mundo ante una catástrofe medioambiental cuyas consecuencias pueden ser fatales para la Tierra: Desertización, desaparición de especies animales y vegetales, deforestación, degradación de las masas polares, pérdida de recursos económicos e, incluso, la posible inhabitabilidad del Planeta. Afrontar este problema es tarea de todos y cada uno de cuantos habitamos en la Tierra. Son los Gobiernos quienes tienen que tomar importantes medidas que limiten la emisión de gases con efecto invernadero, pero también son los ciudadanos quienes, con leves modificaciones en sus hábitos, pueden reducir la emisión de CO2 a la atmósfera.

A few years ago, in Nashville, Tennessee, Al Gore brought together the first group of volunteers to whom he showed the risks the Planet is taking by not stopping immediately the problem of climate change. They had the task of spreading that message of warning to their neighbors, coworkers, families... Since then, more than four million citizens from all around the world have participated in an awareness event organized by the members of The Climate Project: a true "green army" is mobilized to raise awareness amongst the people and governments around the world about the risk of an environmental catastrophe with consequences that could be fatal for the Earth: Desertification, extinction of animal and plant species, deforestation, the degradation of the polar caps, loss of economic resources and, even, the possible inhabitability of the Planet. Dealing with these problems falls on every single person who habits the Earth. It is the responsibility of Governments to take important measures that limit green house gas emissions, but it is also up to the people, with slight changes in their habits, that can reduce CO2 emissions in the atmosphere.
