Resumen de La rebelión de Galatea: autómatas, cíborgs y otras construcciones femeninas subversivas del siglo XXI

  Desde tiempos inmemoriales, el arquetipo de la mujer artificial ha encarnado el deseo de dominación masculina y un erotismo ambivalente derivado del temor ante su presumible sublevación. Además de constituir una de las representaciones fundamentales de la misoginia, la criatura artificial encarna uno de los paradigmas de lo siniestro femenino. Así, sobre el mito de Pigmalión y Galatea se han edificado innumerables construcciones femeninas, autómatas, ciborgs y replicantes que llegan hasta la actualidad. La herencia cultural de estos mitos, que se actualizan una y otra vez bajo distintas formas, termina perpetuando los estereotipos de género y los valores de sumisión y dominación implícitos en ellos. Este artículo pretende reflexionar sobre las implicaciones derivadas de dicha herencia cultural, proponiendo la creación artística de implicación feminista como una vía que analiza y cuestiona los mecanismos que aún a día de hoy operan configurando nuestra identidad y las relaciones de poder entre géneros.

  Since time immemorial, the archetype of artificial woman has embodied the desire for masculine domination and an ambivalent eroticism derived from the fear of its presumed uprising. In addition to constituting one of the fundamental representations of misogyny, the artificial creature embodies one of the paradigms of the sinister feminine. Thus, on the myth of Pygmalion and Galatea have been built innumerable feminine constructions, automatons, cyborgs and replicants that last until today. The cultural heritage of these myths, which are updated again and again under different forms, ends up perpetuating gender stereotypes and values of submission and domination implicit in them. This article intends to reflect on the implications derived from the said cultural heritage, proposing feminist art as a way to analyze and question the mechanisms still configuring our identity and power relations between genders.
