El presente trabajo ofrece una lectura dialogada entre La miseria del hombre, del poeta chileno Gonzalo Rojas y El erotismo, del filósofo francés Georges Bataille. Dicha lectura plantea la alteración de la carga semántica tradicional asignada a la muerte al conferirle el sentido de la continuidad del ser mediante la violencia que anima al mecanismo erótico. Por consecuencia, esa alteración semántica permite que La miseria del hombre sea calificada como una obra que contiene una poética escatológica heterodoxa respecto de las creencias cristianas. Sin embargo, se cuestiona la lógica poética de esa obra cuando se suscitan dudas acerca del carácter violento que anima el mecanismo erótico.

The present work offers a reading of a dialogue between the books The misery of the man, by the Chilean poet Gonzalo Rojas and The eroticism, by the French philosopher Georges Bataille. This reading poses the alteration of the traditional semantic charge assigned to death by giving it the sense of continuity of being through the violence that animates the erotic mechanism. Consequently, this semantic alteration allows The misery of man to be described as a work that contains a heterodox eschatological poetics with respect to Christian beliefs. However, the poetic logic of this work is questioned when doubts raise about the violent nature that animates the erotic mechanism.
