New finds of large mammal fossils in Crevil/ente-2 (Alicante) increase the diversity of Lower Turolian macromammals in Spain. The site is equivalent in age to Piera (Vallés- . Penedés, Catatonia) whose fauna/ remains have been so far the base far the knowledge of Spanish Lower Turolian large mammals. Main similarities between Crevillente-2 and Piera are in the presence of the same species of Plioviverrops, Hipparion, Dicerorhinus, Microstonyx, Birgerbohlinia and Tragoportax. The proboscidean abondance, the absence of Aceratherium, the different carnivore fauna/ association, the presence of a second giraffid and the cervids, in Crevillente, mark the differences with the catalonian site.
