From the end of the 19th century to the twenties there was a great Spanish migratory flow to overseas, which would not be repeated again after the Crisis of 1929; on the contrary, it would be a reception area at the beginning of 21st century, coming from Latin America, besides Eastern Europe and Morocco, participating Extremadura only slightly in all of this. But from the mid-fifties to the mid-seventies of the 20th century, the agrarian Spain will be “emptied” (Extremadura, Andalusia, the Castillas ...) in favor of Madrid, Catalonia and the Basque Country, fundamentally, as well as Western Europe. The 1973 crisis would cut this transfer, resuming after the Crisis of 2008, with emigrants of academic qualification who do not find future employment in Spain in general and Extremadura in particular
