The paper explores the transmission of memory of the massacre of the defeated army and supporters of the Nazi puppet Croatian Independent State (NDH), at Bleiburg, Austria in 1945 among the Croatian diaspora in Argentina. It is a specific, diasporic case, where the place of events is far away. Hence the question arises: which tools or material instruments does the Croatian diaspora use to maintain the memory of Bleiburg? For that purpose, an analysis of written, photographic and audiovisual material was carried out, as well as of personal testimonies collected through semi-structured interviews and informal conversations. After historicizing the memory of Bleiburg in Argentina, we identified the marks and material traces in the specific context of a memory in permanent exile and their tools of support. The results show that with the lack of materiality, the memory depends on a homogeneous narrative, although not carved in stone, and its transmission within an endogenous community, which, with the change of generations needs to resort to local marks of the society where it is being carried out and to new virtual realities.
