Obesity has become a global public health problem that affects both developed and underdeveloped countries in the last decades. Thus, obesity stands out in the epidemiological scenario, drawing attention to and worrying governmental authorities, as well as the scientific community. In this perspective, obesity has risen exponentially in children and adolescents who, in general, perform low levels of physical activity and feed inadequately. Thus, the main objective of the present study was to investigate the effects of concurrent training in the treatment of overweight and obesity in children and adolescents associated with a food re-education program. For this purpose, 21 female adolescents, aged 13.4 ± 2.4 years, were selected. Theoretical activities (3x per week, being two focusing on food reeducation and one focusing behavioral changes) and practical activities (3x per week of physical exercises) were carried out during 6 weeks of interventions. The main results showed: a) reduction of body fat percentage after the intervention period (p <0.05); b) increase in musculoskeletal mass after this period (p <0.05). By means of the results obtained, it is plausible to conclude that the adopted protocol, even when performed for a short time, proved to be effective for reducing fat percentage and increasing musculoskeletal mass. Thus, it can be verified that the practice of physical exercises in association with a program of dietary and behavioral reeducation proves to be a promising solution in the prevention and treatment of obesity.

ABSTRACT Effects of a multiprofessional treatment program on obesity in the body composition of female adolescentsObesity has become a global public health problem that affects both developed and underdeveloped countries in the last decades.
